1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Word2Talk ("the Service"), including our Chrome Extension, Web Player, and related features, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Word2Talk converts web articles, PDFs, and online content into premium AI-generated audio. The Service includes:
- A Chrome browser extension for article extraction and playback
- A web-based dashboard and player at word2talk.com
- AI-powered text-to-speech, summarization, and translation features
- A personal reading library with progress tracking
3. Account Registration
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication credentials.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
- You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits or abuse promotions.
4. Listening Packs and Billing
- Word2Talk uses a prepaid listening hours model. You purchase packs of audio hours at the prices displayed on our pricing page.
- No Auto-Renewal by Default: Packs are one-time purchases. Your subscription will not automatically renew unless you explicitly enable auto-renewal in your account settings.
- Auto-Renewal (Opt-In): If you enable auto-renewal, you will be charged at the beginning of each billing cycle. You may disable auto-renewal at any time from your dashboard, and it will take effect at the end of your current billing period.
- Hour Expiration: Purchased hours are valid for 30 days from the date of purchase, unless you have auto-renewal enabled, in which case unused hours roll over.
- Refund Policy: Due to the nature of digital content, all purchases are final. If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using hours you've purchased, contact us at hello@word2talk.com and we will work to resolve it.
- Prices are subject to change with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.
5. Gifting
- Paid users may gift purchased listening hours to other users via shareable links.
- Only hours from purchases may be gifted. Hours received as gifts cannot be re-gifted.
- Unclaimed gift links can be cancelled by the sender, and the hours will be returned to the sender's account.
- Gift links expire when the sender's pack expires.
- Word2Talk reserves the right to limit or suspend gifting functionality to prevent abuse.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to process content you do not have the right to access
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service
- Circumvent rate limits, authentication mechanisms, or usage restrictions
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with the Service
- Share your account credentials with others
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
7. Content and Intellectual Property
- Your Content: You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service (e.g., article URLs). We process this content solely to provide the Service to you.
- Our Service: The Word2Talk name, logo, website, extension, and all associated software are the intellectual property of Word2Talk. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.
- Third-Party Content: Word2Talk extracts and processes content from third-party websites at your direction. We do not claim ownership of third-party content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access and process the content you submit.
- Generated Audio: Audio generated by the Service is for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not redistribute, resell, or publicly broadcast generated audio.
8. Service Availability
- We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, updates, or security reasons.
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service with reasonable notice.
9. Account Termination
- You may delete your account at any time by contacting hello@word2talk.com.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or fail to pay for purchased services.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Any unused hours are forfeited upon account termination for cause.
10. Limitation of Liability
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- Word2Talk shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
- Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to Word2Talk in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or quality of AI-generated audio, summaries, or translations.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Word2Talk, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
12. Dispute Resolution
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.
- Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
